where-were-you
All this week on Christopher Street, Charenton Macerations has been celebrating 45 years of queer liberation, commemorating some of our favorite stories, places, and events connected with the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. Today, June 28th, officially marks the 45th Anniversary of The Stonewall Riots, that infamous night in ’69 when patrons and neighbors in the West Village banded together to fight back against oppression and corruption – or, as it says atop The Stonewall Inn today, “Where Pride Began.”

2014 Christopher Street Liberation Day Facebook Fragrance Sample Giveaway – 45 Years After Stonewall

To mark this historic date, Charenton Macerations is giving away 45 Free Fragrance Samples of Christopher Street, one vial of scent for each year in the fight for queer liberation. Interested in finding out more? Here’s how you can get your hands on one of them:

  • • First, head over to Facebook. If you’re not already a fan of Charenton Macerations, please click the ‘like’ button on our page. (This step is very important as we cannot send you a message with the shopping cart code if you are not a fan of the page. Facebook does not allow blind contacting from pages)
  • • Step 2, locate the post pinned to the top of our news feed (the one for this article). Then, in the comments section for the post, simply answer the question, “What does Pride mean to you?” Village Pride, Gay Pride, Fragrance Pride… you pick the area that most interests you. The key here is focus on the meaning of the word, Pride.
  • • Shortly after that, you will receive a direct message (either from the Charenton Macerations page or from CM Founder, Douglas Bender) with a brief thank you and a coupon code that can be used in our online Charenton Macerations shop, good for one free sample of Christopher Street (you only pay any tax or shipping fees that might apply). Just add the sample to your cart, type in the code, and you’re good to go.
  • • Unfortunately, I have to limit this offer to US customers only. Blame the ridiculous global mailing restrictions in place, especially regarding the shipping of small vials of perfume.
  • • Finally, yes, once you have access to the coupon code, you may share it with friends and family. However, the code is set to expire after its 45th use. So, the earlier you get in, the more likely you are to get a vial of Christopher Street.

That’s it. Easy-peasy. The coupon code is now live, so head over to Facebook to start gaining access. Good luck.

And just one last little reminder: The “Stonewall 45: Windows Into LGBT History” exhibit on Christopher Street ends tomorrow. If you cannot make it to the West Village to see it in person, be sure to check out their website, www.stonewall45.org, where you’ll find a complete collection of images from the exhibit, along with tons of background information on the project and other useful links. You can also check out CM’s walkthrough of the exhibit here.

Happy Christopher Street Liberation Day! Happy Pride 2014!
